Interlibrary Loan fee -- $3 per filled Request
Beginning January 1st, 2010, there will be a $3 interlibrary loan (ILL) fee for each filled request. This is a small postage recoup fee for the Municipal users of Anchorage Public Library in the Anchorage area.
The $3 charge applies to all items that have been shipped to Anchorage for our users, including photocopies, articles (regardless of length) and microfilm. The charge may be higher for multipart items, or multivolume works, or if the lender has higher costs and the customer has agreed to pay them.
The fee will be charged to the patron when the item is picked up or added to the library account if not picked up. All items received in ILL on, and after, January 1st, 2010 will result in the $3 fee—regardless of when the request was submitted by the patron.
Why? We need to recoup some postage fees. Many libraries pass on some or all of the postage costs and lending library fees to their customers.
Cancelling Requests:
If the ILL department is notified of a cancelled request prior to an item being shipped from another library the customers account will not be charged the $ 3 fee. If a cancellation is placed after another library ships the materials the charges will be applied. A customer can keep track of the status of a request by logging onto their interlibrary loan account at anytime:
